WEBREATHE means “we breathe”.

Since 2016, our mission has not changed: to make public transport more attractive, so that it wins more passengers, cars stay in the garage and our cities breathe more easily.

Our name, our mission

Breathing easier, on three levels.

01

On board

Vehicles sized to actual ridership: less crowded at peak hours, more comfortable. Breathing is easier on public transport.

02

In the city

Every passenger who leaves the car behind means less CO₂, fewer nitrogen oxides and less fine particulate matter. Air pollution is the world's leading environmental health risk.

03

In the wallet

Heavily subsidised, public transport costs far less than driving. Passengers can breathe easier at the end of the month too.

In figures

Impact that is measured, not assumed.

15,000 t

of CO₂ avoided in 2023 on networks equipped with 2FLOW, up from 13,900 t in 2022.

7

cars replaced on average by a single bus, based on average occupancy rates measured by ADEME, the French environment agency.

÷ 6.7

CO₂ per passenger by electric bus rather than by car, on a 5.3 km urban trip.

÷ 34

CO₂ per passenger by tram rather than by car, on the same trip.

WEBREATHE estimates based on ridership measured by 2FLOW and ADEME emission factors, using conservative assumptions. Detailed method below.

Comparison

The same trip, five carbon footprints.

CO₂ emissions per passenger for a 5.3 km urban trip, the median home-to-work distance in cities according to INSEE, the French statistics institute.

These values assume 10 passengers per bus, the national average. Every additional passenger reduces the footprint of all the others: that is precisely where 2FLOW makes a difference.

Source: ADEME, Base Carbone 23.3 (2024); 1.43 people per car, 10 passengers per bus.

The 2FLOW virtuous circle

From counting data to the air we breathe.

  1. 1

    Count

Every boarding and every alighting, at every door, with certified accuracy above 98%.

  2. 2

    Understand

CARE reveals vehicle loads, peak demand and origin-destination journeys.

  3. 3

    Adjust

Fewer empty runs, extra capacity where demand calls for it, right-sized vehicles.

  4. 4

    Inform

The API·IV publishes real-time occupancy rates in apps and on passenger information displays.

  5. 5

    Attract

A more reliable, more comfortable service attracts new passengers, who leave their cars behind.

In the field

More passengers, lower emissions per passenger.

Three networks equipped with 2FLOW, presented anonymously. With a comparable fleet, every additional passenger dilutes vehicle emissions.

BRT line · 16 electric buses

−32%

CO₂ per passenger in two years

2FLOW data justified increasing from 10 to 16 vehicles at strategic times. Ridership followed: over 1.2 million additional trips and around 500 t of CO₂ avoided through modal shift from the car.

Urban network · 18 buses

−70%

emissions per passenger in three years

A network strengthened step by step on the basis of counting data: ridership more than tripled, and each trip emits three times less.

Metropolitan network · 46 buses

−56%

emissions per passenger in one year

With the same fleet and mileage, ridership grew 2.3-fold: the same buses carry far more passengers.

Impact investors

Growth aligned with urban decarbonisation.

01

Measurable impact

2FLOW data makes it possible to calculate, every year and network by network, the CO₂ effect of the measures taken by transport authorities and operators.

02

A market driven by climate action

Over 10,000 cities committed to the Global Covenant of Mayors, around a hundred major cities in the C40 network: all of them must develop sustainable public transport.

03

The UN goals

2FLOW contributes to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 (good health), 11 (sustainable cities and communities) and 13 (climate action).

04

Made in France

Sensors and computers designed and manufactured in Lille, monitored and updated remotely, without taking vehicles out of service.

Our method

Measured ridership

Boardings and alightings counted by 2FLOW, not estimates.

A cautious modal shift

Additional passengers are allocated according to national modal shares: 62.8% would have driven, the others would have walked, cycled or already used public transport.

A typical trip

5.3 km, the median home-to-work distance in urban areas (INSEE).

Official factors

CO₂, nitrogen oxide and fine particulate emissions from ADEME.

Conservative assumptions

10 passengers per bus and 1.43 people per car: in reality, buses and trams are often much fuller.

A contribution, not an attribution

The rise in ridership also reflects the networks' own choices, such as service levels or fares. 2FLOW provides the data that informs these choices and measures their effect.
